The Hakham Center in the south of Jerusalem benefit underserved children and their families. At the center, distressed children receive much-needed attention and close care, individual and group emotional therapies, educational reinforcement, a warm hearty meal, and after-school activities, while their struggling parents and family members are treated by the center’s professional staff. We build and employ an individually tailored treatment plan for each child and family, to provide the required intensive care in the community, towards fulfilling both child and family needs. Importantly, the Hakham Center works towards improving parent-child relationships while strengthening the parental function, through parent groups and parent-child meetings, individual parent treatment and training. The Hakham Center provides a multi-purpose solution for the families – that is both educational, therapeutic, and social. The center aims to promote them emotionally, behaviorally, educationally and socially and help improve family relationships, conduct and communication at home. The Center meets the physical, emotional and academic needs of the children, enables and promotes the children’s development and provides families at high risk with a supportive framework in which they can heal and gather the strength necessary for future progress.
